The Msichana Shupavu Program
Empowering Girls, Advancing Equality
Msichana Shupavu, meaning “Brave Girl”, is Educate for Hope Africa’s program dedicated to
supporting girls and promoting gender inclusivity in underserved communities of Butiama,
Tanzania. We work to ensure that every girl regardless of her background has the opportunity to
grow with dignity, confidence, and equal access to education and opportunity.

Program Mission
To break down gender barriers and empower girls with the knowledge, resources, and support they
need to stay in school, thrive, and lead change in their communities.
Who We Serve
Msichana Shupavu reaches adolescent girls in rural and marginalized areas, as well as the
communities, families, and schools that influence their well-being and future.
Menstrual Hygiene Education & Kits:
We provide age-appropriate menstrual health education and distribute reusable sanitary kits—
ensuring girls no longer miss school during their periods.
Safe Spaces for Girls:
We create safe, supportive environments within schools where girls can talk openly, access
counseling, and receive mentorship from trained female role models.
Gender-Sensitive Teacher Training:
We train teachers and school leaders to recognize and address gender bias, and to build inclusive,
girl-friendly classrooms.
Life Skills & Leadership Workshops:
We equip girls with confidence-building tools, self-advocacy skills, and awareness of their rights
through interactive workshops and peer-led activities.
Community Awareness & Advocacy:
We engage parents, boys, and community leaders in breaking taboos, shifting attitudes, and
advocating for girls’ education and equality.
